Newcastle Woman, Deirdre Brady, CEO for TinyLife, Northern Ireland’s Premature Baby Charity has won the prestigious award,  Ulster Tatler, Business Woman of the Year. Deirdre was presented with her award by Patrick Moffat from WG Baird at a ritzy event hosted by BBC presenters Sarah Travers and Gerry Anderson.

Whilst the public cast their votes for the initial nominations over 12 individual categories relating to life and lifestyles in Northern Ireland, from fashion to interior design, hairdressing and hospitality, and from business to sport – not to mention the celebrated Lifetime achievement award. A judging panel of experts from the media and industry then made the final selection, they concluded, ‘Thanks to Deirdre’s tireless work, she has made a giant difference to the fortunes of TinyLife through her business and professional skills – all while being a mother of five children – and so has raised the profile of a vital charity which has helped so many affected by the trauma surrounding premature births, miscarriage and still births.’

Deirdre was thrilled to receive the award she comments ‘There was no one more surprised than me to learn that I had been shortlisted for the Ulster Tatler Business Woman of the Year award, and I was even more shocked when I actually won.  It takes a great team behind you to succeed in business and I am delighted to accept the award on behalf of staff and volunteers of TinyLife.  The charity has recently celebrated 21 years of providing emotional and practical support to families of premature and ill babies across Northern Ireland. The services we provide would not have been possible without the support of the general public and local business.  My thanks to everyone who has helped come this far’.
